Please see below for our FTPS “Quick Bites” to keep you informed about all the wonderful things happening
at Fenelon Township Public School.
- Orange Shirt Day (Sept 30): In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, students
and staff are encouraged to wear orange tomorrow. Classrooms have been learning about the
history and significance of this day through lessons and morning announcements. - School Council Meeting (Sept 30): Join us tomorrow at 6:00 PM in the library for our first meeting of
the school year. All parents and guardians are welcome. I look forward to meeting our 2026/2027
council members and working together to support our students! - Terry Fox Run Success: A huge thank you to Ms. Broeders for organizing such a successful event,
and to our entire school community for your incredible generosity. We doubled our original goal of
$2,400 and raised over $5,000 for cancer research! - Fall Clubs & Athletics: We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff for donating their time during
recess and after school to offer these opportunities:
– Jr. Mixed Soccer: Ms. Yandt & Mrs. Wilson
– Int. Girls Soccer: Ms. Jiggins & Ms. Earp
– Int. Boys Soccer: Ms. Metherel & Ms. Thomson
– Cross Country: Mrs. Janke & Mrs. Wilson (Meet date: Oct 15 at Ken Reid)
– Crochet Club: Mrs. Barrow (Running through October)
– Lego Club: Mrs. Barrow (Wrap-up for September) - Hot Lunch Program: Hot lunches started this week! A quick reminder that orders are always due the Sunday before the week begins. If you missed out this week, you can order for next week. Thank you to Ms. Bell for organizing!
- Early Reading Screening: Early reading screening begins next week for all Senior Kindergarten to Grade 2 students.
- Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Thank you for helping foster student independence during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Our car line is flowing smoothly, and staff love greeting our Tigers with supportive high-fives and fist bumps each morning! If your child needs help getting from the car to our supervised yard, please assist them until they reach full independence. Great job, Tigers!
- Instrumental Music Program: Ms. Harris-Lowe (Ms. H-L) is teaching music to Ms. Earp’s class and Grades 3-8 as they begin learning instruments. Check out our instrumental music program information by clicking this link.
- Spring Math Celebrations: Our daily Spring Math routines are underway in most classrooms to build student speed, confidence, and accuracy in core math skills. During warmer months, whenever three classrooms reach strand “mastery,” the whole school gets to celebrate with a 15-minute early outdoor break at the end of the day. Ask your student about Spring Math!
- Picture Day: Mark your calendars: School Picture Day is Monday, October 26th.
- Finally, a big shout-out to Meghan Muirhead who dedicated many hours weeding, pruning and tidying our gardens. We appreciate you, Meghan!
Yours in education,
Bill Thompson
